    and the point is….??

  2. Polichette says:

if youve ever tried to ship a bike, or travel with a bike on today’s airlines, its very difficult to box up a fullsized efficient bike in a shippable container… the wheels are the main reason for this.

  3. popcatzoo says:

It could make a nice spare tire for long bike treks.

  4. malanfrk says:

    why folding bicycle wheel

  5. niknak1188 says:

It could be used to prevent theft. If the thief got through the chain some how.

  6. leofrankfurter says:

    why?

  7. melos24 says:

    You just Won It.

  8. downfader2 says:

As an engineering project its interesting. Sadly I think it has no practical value when we have things like Bromptons already.

Dumbest idea evver invented……….dead set took an iddiot to think of a folding wheel on a bike would be a good idea, with the speed & simplicity of quick release hubs & the safty of a wheel not collapsing congrats you win 1st place in the The Biggest Try Hard Dickhead Award for the year

  10. fsxfanatic says:

I noticed that the biker didn’t bike so fast. Maybe he himself doesn’t trust the invention….

  11. AustinJRice says:

Hmmm…I would hate for this wheel to fold as I land a jump. :D

  12. focusboyfocus says:

is not much as folding as it collapsing… :) but great idea though

  13. Maligise says:

    nice. keep it up

  14. tommyboomboom says:

    who’s designed such a tyre?

  15. AresPassage says:

Can you lock it in the folded position?

  16. Sidlexic says:

yeah, maybe on a road bike but not on a downhill mountain bike.

  17. sebairaf3 says:

hahah solidworks?very good program , i design all things in that!…

  18. ISLAM4THICKONES says:

They hve allready but cost more so no one is bothered.

  19. mikosoft says:

Well, a folding bike is something different than folding wheel. Small folding bikes might not be very comfortable but this wheel must be a real pain to ride. I have ridden a performance bike with very thin tyre inflated to high presure to minimize friction. I could feel every little hole in the road not mentioning pebbles etc. No, you really DON’T want an airless tyre unless you’re massochist or something.

  20. kokopiko says:

Folding bike is not about comfort. It`s the only way to pack 2 bikes into the trunk of a small car. This one will help too.

  21. Cthrilla says:

    *design*

  22. floridatexan1 says:

OK. now someone design a tire that doesn’t need air and has the ride comfort of a inflate able tire. Seriously…

  23. Suvijedrilicar says:

I think its nice desing but I would not go downhill with that!!!

  24. amoroza219 says:

    no application???
do you fools not know about folding bikes or what?
the single item that defines how small a suitcase you can pack the bike into is wheel size! this innovation will mean we can have full sized bikes fit into airline-legal suitcases. silly people

It’s funny that so many people are like, “WTF?” I can think of many ways I could use this like if I lock my bike to a bike rack on the sidewalk.

Walk along a sidewalk in Chicago and you’re sure to see wheels bent from a car swiping them. It’s not the biker’s fault when the racks are too close to the street, but with a wheel like this…
