When it comes to exercise bikes, there are plenty of options available. Starting from simple bicycle typed fitness bikes, there are varieties of spinning bikes, double action bikes, stationary bikes and the latest recumbent fitness bikes.

Amongst all fitness bikes recumbent fitness bikes takes a special spot in today’s exercise world. Recumbent bikes are widely recommended by physicians and exercise trainers. Recumbent fitness bikes’ design provides convenience and level of comfort for users.

Recumbent bikes come with a bucket seat and a back rest. These are the most advantageous features which other exercise bikes do not have in them. The bucket seat allows the user to sit as low as possible which pedaling the bike.

Recumbent exercise bikes make exercising very easy even for beginners. It is designed to make exercising very exciting. The comfort factor available in recumbent bikes helps removing the stress factor from the mind of the users who workout. The angle at which a user exercises in a recumbent bike is where the body weight is not stressing their joints.

Safety is an important factor in any exercise and it is at a very high level in recumbent bikes. It is good to the body that you sit very low while exercising in a recumbent bike. It negates the purpose of hunch over which is the main cause for having a stiff back. The major highlight of the design of the recumbent bike is making your body posture perfect when you pedal.

There are different workout levels available in a recumbent bike. From a beginner to an expert athlete can be able to workout at different levels using a recumbent bike. On a lazy Sunday morning you can set the level of stress to minimum and workout sipping a cup of coffee or even reading the morning paper. When you feel like exercising more you can set the level high which can even provide the level of stress of climbing a mountain. You can also add weights to workout for your upper body.

Exercising for an hour in recumbent exercise bikes in medium stress level can help to burn 1000 calories. This is one of the easy and joyous ways to burn your calories.

Even the most inactive and deskbound people would love exercising in recumbent bike. The seats provided can accommodate people who are bulkier and overweight. Other exercise bikes are not that much accommodative to overweight people.

There are few other cardio workouts offered by recumbent bikes without putting pressure on your knees and other joints. The adjustable nature of the seat allows the person to increase the height of the seat and pedal. This increase in height gives a very good workout for the lower abs and helps you to do less number of crunches.

One can find a recumbent exercise bike costing in the range of $300 to $ 2500 with lots of different features such as heartbeat calculator, BP meter, calorie burnt meter etc. Based on ones spending capability you can buy one of the easiest and safe exercise bikes.

Schwinn is a name that is well known in fitness circles. They are the most respected name in bicycles and exercise bikes all around the globe. They started making bikes in the year 1895 in Chicago and have been going strong since then. In the beginning, they focused mainly on racing bikes, but later on moved their attention to kids’ bicycles. They are extremely popular among people who want to build a home gym. The Schwinn recumbent exercise bike is the perfect exercise gear to buy for people who haven’t exercised ever in their lives and also for people who have a regular exercise program. Though Schwinn also makes upright exercise bikes and elliptical trainers, the Schwinn recumbent exercise bike is the most popular.

Schwinn recumbent exercise bikes come in four different models to meet different needs of people. The prices range from $ 250 to $650. The Schwinn Active Series 20 recumbent exercise bike is the lowest priced while the Schwinn 231 recumbent exercise bike is the top-of the line model. All models are equipped with a handgrip heart sensor that will be able to tell exactly what the pulse rate is of the person who is exercising on it. You can adjust the seat by setting a knob and even slide the seat backward and forward. Setting it up in a way that keeps your knees only slightly bent is the best. The control panel will let you set the resistance you want for a particular workout session. The model nos. 230 and 231 offer 16 levels of resistance for you to choose from while the model nos. 20 and 203 come with 8 levels. The great thing about model no. 231 is that it comes with 23 in-built workout programs. You can choose to “Ride in the park”, “Pyramid intervals” or “Rolling hills”. Yes those are the name of the programs! Model no. 231 also comes with a beautiful backlit LCD screen that will tell you the time, distance, pulse, resistance, RPM, watts, calories and speed.

All the models of the Schwinn recumbent exercise bike come with comfortable seats with lumbar support that will let you really feel that you are working out. You can also opt to have a magazine holder, a water bottle holder, an adjustable fan, adjustable LCD angle and transport wheel on your bike if you want.

The most important reasons you should choose to buy a Schwinn recumbent exercise bike instead of an upright bike are:

* Solid construction
* Heavy fly wheel
* Comfortable seating
* Very little sound
* High-quality LCD screens that come with all the statistics you need
* Great variety of in-built workout programs for you to choose from
* Easily movable around the house as it comes with wheels

Apart from all these, each Schwinn recumbent exercise bike comes with a 10 year frame warranty, 1 year electrical and mechanical warranty, 6 months wear warranty and 90 days labor warranty. So go ahead and start exercising!

It’s almost here…the end of another year. If you’re like me, that means you will be eating A LOT from now until New Year’s Day. This is not good. It’s really not good if you live in a very cold climate, with a very long winter season, like me. Sounds like a job for the Schwinn recumbent bike!!

Even though you may live in a cold climate, and may be facing weeks of nasty weather which prohibits you from exercising, don’t let that stop you from attaining your weight, fitness and energy goals. That is why we love exercise bikes! The Schwinn recumbent bike is just one option. The final decision on which type of exercise bike is best for you will all depend on your specific health and/or fitness goals.

For example, is your goal to lose weight? Is it to shape up and tighten muscle tone? Are you looking to strengthen your legs due to an injury or surgery? It is important to identify the reason you need the exercise bike, then do some research to find out which is the best for your specific needs and/or goals.

Exercise bikes are great because you can work out in the privacy of your own home, work out at your own pace, jump on for 10 minutes – then come back sometime later for 10 more minutes. And again, you need not let inclement weather stop you.

As we all know, exercise is key for keeping our bodies healthy, our weight down, relieving stress and keeping energy levels up. An exercise bike is a great place to start because it lets you adjust the level, resistance and difficulty of your regimen.

If you haven’t worked out in ages, you want to start slowly and build your way up to a more challenging pace. It’s not a bad idea to run it past your doctor, just to be on the safe side.

If your New Year’s resolution includes getting more (or some!) exercise, an exercise bike – whether it be a recumbent bike, magnetic resistance or other – is an excellent place to start.

Happy cycling!
